In most cases, you can now amend your tax return yourself if the submission deadline has passed.

  • You must make the necessary changes if you discover any errors or if you receive new or delayed information from your employer, bank, NAV or others who are required to submit information.
  • You can appeal if you have received notification of a decision from the Norwegian Tax Administration stating that we have amended your tax return. In order to appeal, you will need a decision number. If you have not been notified of a decision, you must amend your tax return yourself.

How can I find out whether I have received notification of a decision from the Norwegian Tax Administration?

When we make any changes, we will send you a decision notification. A decision notification is a letter which informs you of a decision that the Norwegian Tax Administration has taken to amend the information in your tax return. This is called an assessment by the authorities.

When you receive a decision notification, the decision will be explained either in

  • a separate letter or
  • as a remark on your tax assessment.

When you receive a decision notification, it will be stated in a separate letter or on your tax assessment that we have reached a decision.

If you have not received a decision notification from the Norwegian Tax Administration, you can answer no to this.
