Tax settlement notice – tax refund

International - Artikkel - uten emnekart Print version

If the employer has withheld too much tax in advance, an amount will be owed to the employee on assessment, and the employee is entitled to a tax refund. The tax assessment is usually made public in the autumn of the year after the income year.

The tax refund is usually sent to the employee no later than six weeks after the tax settlement notice was sent.

In order to ensure that you receive your tax settlement, it is important that you notify Tax Norway of any change of address.

To ensure timely and secure transfer of the amount owing to you to an address abroad, you must state the account into which the tax refund should be paid. If you would like the money transferred to a foreign bank account, you must state the international bank account number (IBAN) and the bank’s BIC/SWIFT code.

All account information must be in writing and signed.
