  • Print

Cohabitation is the term used to describe two people living together under circumstances which are like a marriage without them actually having entered into marriage. There is no formal registration procedure for cohabitation in Norway.

Cohabitation agreement

Cohabitation is not regulated by law in the same way as marriage. Many cohabitants therefore wish to enter into a cohabitation agreement. This regulates aspects such as who owns what.

A cohabitation agreement can be formulated in various ways. A search on the internet will give you an idea of the ways in which you can formulate an agreement. The Tax Administration does not provide cohabitation agreements.
