Submission and deadline for your tax return

The deadline for submitting your tax return is 30 April 2017 for employees/wage earners and pensioners.

How do I submit my tax return?

It depends on which tax return form you are using:

The pre-filled tax return (RF-1030) can be submitted online at or or on paper.

Persons who do not receive a pre-completed tax return must complete and submit the "Tax return for persons who have not received a pre-completed tax return" (RF-1281).  It can be submitted electronically as an attachment via the online e-mail form or on paper.

Practical tips about the tax return

How to change an item, how to submit with attachments, print, submit on paper, change your bank account number, etc.

Online access to your tax return

You need a Norwegian national identity number or D-number to get online access to your tax return etc.

Extended submission deadline

You can apply to the tax office for an extension of the deadline if you have special reasons, for example sickness or absence due to travel, which make it very difficult for you to submit the tax return by the deadline.

You can apply for an extension of the deadline online. See further details at Search for "RF-1115" at for more information about an extension of the deadline. You can also submit an application in writing stating the grounds for your application and your personal identity number, name and address.
