The Tax Administration and research
The Tax Administration is responsible for assessing taxes and duties, and for managing the National Population Register. We're also responsible for collecting claims owed to the public sector by individuals and businesses. To carry out our tasks, we need strong knowledge of society, and we therefore cooperate with research institutions in Norway and internationally.
We support research that can provide better insight into our areas of work, particularly tax evasion, compliance, economic behaviour, and the effects of the taxation system.
Through collaboration with researchers, we aim to:
- strengthen our knowledge base
- develop robust professional environments
- ensure the effective use of research results in the Tax Administration’s work
- contribute to the education of new specialists in the field of taxation
- make public administration more open and accessible
