Form Q-0160

Declaration of division

If you have been married previously and are applying to get married again, you must complete the declaration of division. You must attach the declaration of division to your application for a marriage licence or certificate of no impediment to marriage.

Send the form to:

Skatteetaten
Postboks 9200 Grønland

Norway

Fill in the part of the form that applies to you

The form has three sections. Fill in the part that applies to your situation:

Section 1:
Less than two years since the bride/groom was divorced

You must fill in this section of the form if it’s less than two years since the bride/groom was divorced. The form must be sent by post and must be signed by the former spouse.

Section 3:
More than two years since the bride/groom was divorced

You must fill in this section of the form and send by post if it’s more than two years since the bride/groom was divorced. If more than two years have passed since the divorce, your own signature is sufficient to confirm that the division has been completed or that there was nothing to divide.

Note! If you’re applying online for a marriage licence or certificate of no impediment to marriage, you do not have to complete the paper form for the declaration of division when your divorce was over two years ago. This is part of the online application.

Section 2:
Marriage was dissolved by death

You must fill in this section of the form and send by post if a former marriage was dissolved by death. The form must be signed by all the heirs. In addition to this, you must submit a probate certificate by the district court stating who the heirs are.

If you were divorced under foreign law, the divorce must be recognised by the County Governor. This does not apply if the divorce was granted in another Nordic country and both spouses were residents and citizens of a Nordic country at the time of the divorce.

If the divorce under foreign law must be recognised by the County Governor, you can also apply for an exemption from proving the division if the divorce was granted less than two years ago. You can download the application form from the  County Governor's website.
