Other compensation schemes
The salary subsidy to bring back laid off employees applies to employers such as self-employed persons and businesses (ENK), private limited companies (AS), non-profit organisations and foundations that have laid off employees as a result of the coronavirus situation. The scheme is managed by the Norwegian Tax Administration.
The Government’s package of measures has an impact on other services for businesses that are managed by the Tax Administration.
There are additional schemes provided by other agencies that may be of relevance to enterprises, for example:
- Salary compensation for persons who are laid-off (NAV): The scheme provides compensation for salary in case of a layoff for up to 18 days.
- Salary compensation and refunds (NAV): In connection with the coronavirus situation, NAV will provide a salary compensation to persons who are laid off from day 3 until and including day 20. If the enterprise has paid out salary for laid off employees, NAV can refund the salary.
- Subsidy for salary expenses (NAV): Support schemes for employers with employees that have a reduced capacity for work or a long-term/chronic illness. These include the Time-limited wage subsidy and Permanent wage subsidy (in Norwegian only) that will provide the employer with a subsidy to compensate for lower productivity and a subsidy for long-term or chronic illness (in Norwegian only) including pregnancy.
