Car prices - historical sales prices for second hand cars

From 1 January 2024 refunds of the one-off registration tax at export will be calculated by using the previously assessed one-off registration tax and making a proportionate reduction of this sum based on how long the vehicle has been registered in Norway.

The deduction for use is ordinarily calculated by a table of deduction. However, an alternative calculation method based on an individual assessment of the price and odometer reading of the vehicle is also available.

When a second-hand vehicle is imported, the alternative deduction for use can be calculated by comparing the historical price for the car as new to the second-hand sales price for the particular model of vehicle. When a previously imported second-hand vehicle is exported, an alternative deduction for use must be calculated by comparing the historical second-hand sales price for the particular model in the year it was registered in Norway to the second-hand sales price at the time of export. This is to ensure that the reduction in value abroad is not applied to the refund twice.

The price lists below are only for finding the historical second-hand sales price for a vehicle for calculation of the deduction for use by the alternative method when applying for a refund of the one-off registration tax at export.

Find a car

  1. Select the manufacture year of the vehicle
  2. Find the vehicle in the list

A tip: Use CTRL + F in your web browser to search for the vehicle model (not make), for example, search for Aygo if you are looking for a Toyota Aygo.

Note that it may take time for the search result to load as the files are large.
