Change, delete, or add c/o to an address

You can only use the c/o field when borrowing someone else’s mailbox, that is, when the mailbox does not have your name on it. You must state the name of the person, enterprise, or place name that is on the mailbox.

How to use c/o

C/o stands for "care of". It's used if your name is not on the mailbox to which the mail is addressed.

C/o is usually used when the recipient

  • does not have a permanent postal address
  • is visiting someone
  • lives in a place with no regular postal delivery service

The most common way of using c/o is to write c/o in front of the name of the "owner" of the mailbox, but after your own name, like this:

Ola Nordmann – the name of the person who will receive the mail
c/o Pat Post – the name of the "owner" of the mailbox
Storgata 61 – street/road name and house number
0364 Oslo – postal code and postal town

Change c/o in your address

If you have not moved, but only need to change, delete, or add c/o to your current residential address, you can change this yourself.

If you do not have an electronic ID, you can send us an enquiry.

You can also send the changes by post to:

Skatteetaten
Postboks 9200 Grønland
0134 Oslo
Norway

This only applies if you have a Norwegian national identity number. If you have a D number, you must report this by changing your postal address.

If you have moved

If you have moved to a new residential address, you must report your move:

Change the postal address or present address

If you're going to change the c/o of your postal address, you must report a change of postal address. You can also change the c/o of your present address if you have a Norwegian D number.
