Help with collecting compensation
We're offering to collect money on your behalf if someone has been sentenced to pay compensation to you because of a criminal offence. We cannot make payments in advance.
This is how we can help you
We can collect money on your behalf if someone has been sentenced to pay compensation to you because of a criminal offence in a criminal case, or because of criminal violations in a civil case.
- The collection service is free of charge.
- We cannot advance the compensation before the money has been collected .
- We'll collect interest only if it's stated in the penalty writ or the judgment that we should do so.
- If the person liable to pay compensation lives abroad and does not pay, we can collect the claim via our partners in other countries.
What you need to do
Once the case has been decided by the court, you'll get a letter from us asking for your permission to help you with collection.
We receive the criminal case files from the police, and it may take some time between the court decision and when you receive our letter. The appeal deadline must expire, and the police must complete their processing of the case.
If somebody has been sentenced to pay compensation or legal costs in a civil case, you must send us an application where you request that we collect the compensation.
We can help you with collection if the case concerns criminal offences such as physical or psychological violence.
For cases concerning fraud, theft, and damage to assets and objects, you must contact your local enforcement officer or a private debt collecting agency.
How to apply for collection assistance
You must request that we collect the claim on your behalf by completing and submitting the form for collection of the compensation.

- A confirmation from the district court that the judgment is enforceable (decided in court).

- Submit the form and your supporting documents.
Your signature gives us permission to collect the civil compensation on your behalf.

Collection of compensation abroad
We can also help you collect compensation from someone living abroad. If the person liable to pay the compensation does not pay, we'll consider continuing the collection via our partners abroad.
When will you receive the compensation
The financial situation of the person who must pay the compensation will affect how quickly you receive the payment. The person paying the compensation must have money to cover their cost of living expenses.
Total payment
If the person owing the money pays the full compensation amount in a single instalment, you'll receive the entire compensation amount as one payment.
Payment collected through enforcement proceedings
If the person who must pay compensation to you does not pay voluntarily, we can collect the claim through enforcement proceedings. We can, for example, make deductions from their income, or place attachments on accounts or properties.
If we deduct from their income, you'll get paid the amount we deduct every month. If there are more than one aggrieved party in the same compensation case, we'll distribute the amount between you.
We cannot pay you in advance
Before we can pay you any of the compensation amount, we must collect it from the person who owes you money.
