Cost of living expenses
If we must carry out enforcement proceedings and make deductions from your income, you’ll still have enough money to cover your cost of living expenses.
This means that when we calculate a deduction, we’ll make sure you have enough money to cover the necessary living and housing expenses.
To be sure that we do not deduct too much, you must check that we have the correct information about your expenses for
- residential property
- childcare
- child maintenance
- any extraordinary expenses
If we do not have the correct information, you must provide proof of your expenses and send it to us.
The rates for cost of living expenses are determined by the Ministry of Children and Families and are intended to cover expenses for food, clothing, electricity, heating, transport, home contents insurance, health, hygiene, telephone and media, leisure activities, etc. We use these rates as the basis for calculating the amount of your deduction.
You do not have to provide proof of cost of living expenses unless they are extraordinary.
