Mark on your credit record

A decision on distraint can lead to a mark on your or your business's credit record. A mark on your credit record will make it difficult to get new loans, credit, and subscriptions, such as phone subscriptions.

To delete the mark on your credit record, you must pay the claims.

Rettigheter og konsekvenser

You're entitled to appeal the decision on distraint.

Deadlines for appealing can vary from case to case. You’ll find information about the appeal deadline and how to appeal in the letters you receive from us.

You’re personally responsible for your own debt. We cannot make deductions from the income of your cohabiting partner or spouse. Your cohabiting partner or spouse can still be affected by the deduction because the household’s combined income is reduced during the deduction period.

We cannot place an attachment on your spouse's or cohabiting partner's share of a property, only on the share you own. If you're considering taking out a new loan or refinancing, it may be more difficult if a partial attachment has been placed on your residential property.

A decision on distraint can have three outcomes:

  • We make deductions from your income
A fixed amount is deducted from your pay each month by your employer or by Nav.
  • We place an attachment on your assets
This means that we place an attachment on assets, such as real property, a car, bank accounts, or securities. We can then request a forced sale of the assets we have placed an attachment on. If we place an attachment on a bank account, the account will be blocked for the relevant amount.
  • We find no assets available for distraint
It means we have not found any income we can make deductions from or any assets we can place an attachment on.

You may receive a mark on your credit record in all three cases.
