Access to public documents and information

You can request access to case documents, journals, or similar registers at the Tax Administration, or a compilation of information stored electronically in the Tax Administration's databases.

Access to information that is not public

If you want to view the personal data registered about you by the Tax Administration: See my personal data

If you want to view documents in cases concerning you (case documents): See my case documents (right of access)

You must describe what you want to see so the Tax Administration can find the documents or the information you're asking for. For example, you can state the period or case the documents relate to.

You do not

• have to give any reason why you wish to see the documents or information
• have to state your name or other information about yourself, as long as the Tax Administration knows where to send any documents or information
• have to know for sure that the Tax Administration has the documents you’re requesting. If the Tax Administration does not have them, we'll advise you where you may be able to find them.

You can request access via eInnsyn. There, you'll find documents received, sent, or created by the Directorate of Taxes (public journal).

The journal on eInnsyn is normally updated by five days after incoming and outgoing correspondence.

Documents that you cannot find on eInnsyn

If you cannot find the document that you wish to access on eInnsyn.no, you can use the contact form for access to public documents and information .

• • You should have an answer to your request for access within three working days.
  • If we need more time to process your request, we’ll let you know.
  • The main rule is that all documents are public documents, but there may be exceptions.

If you have not been granted full access, you can

• • request the grounds for the rejection
  • appeal against the rejection
