Family and health

  • Children

  • Changed relationship status

If you have a changed relationship status, it may affect both the taxation and deductions. Also remember to check your tax deduction card.
  • Distributing income, expenses and capital

Spouses, registered partners and spouse-equivalent cohabiting partners can decide how they wish to distribute certain income and deduction items in their tax returns between themselves.
  • Maintenance payments

"Maintenance payments" are regular financial contributions made to a person that another person is obliged by law or an agreement to provide for without any counterperformance. In principle, maintenance payments can be made to anyone irrespective of any relationship or family affiliation.
  • Special allowance for sickness expenses

The special allowance was discontinued as of the income year 2012. Transitional rules mean that some people are still entitled to the deduction.
  • Tax returns of deceased persons

When a person dies, their address is automatically deleted from the National Registry. No tax return will therefore be sent out. If you still want the deceased person's tax return sent out, the postal address of the surviving spouse or heirs must be notified to the National Registry office.
  • Tax limitation due to inability to pay tax

This applies to people who involuntarily live on a very low income over a number of years. Tax limitation is granted in only a very few cases, and only to people who are unable to provide for themselves over a long period of time.
