Table-based deductions and percentage deductions

With a table-based card, your tax increases along with your income. A percentage card deducts the same percentage of tax even if your income changes.

Tax on retroactive payments of pension and national insurance benefits

For the current year, tax will always be deducted according to the percentage rate specified on your tax deduction card. For previous years, other percentage rates apply.
