Why am I receiving this error message
You have specified an invalid occupation code per sign-on period.
You may have received the error message because you have:
- entered an incorrect number
- specified a code which does not exist in Statistics Norway’s directory of occupations
Do I have to correct the error
Yes, the a-melding contains errors and/or omissions which you must correct.
You must correct the error by the deadline for submitting the a-melding for the calendar month in which you received the error message.

How to correct the error
- Check the occupation code you used and change it to a valid number. You will find valid occupation codes in the Directory of Occupations (only available in Norwegian) at ssb.no. All seven digits must be correct.
- Submit the a-melding when you have corrected the error. If you use a payroll system, check with your system supplier if you are not sure how to make corrections in your system.
Example
A shipowner submits an a-melding for February containing information on the occupation code per sign-on period 3141000 for Kari, who is the chief engineer on the ship.
The shipowner receives error message MAGNET_EDAG-519F because 3141000 is not a valid occupation code per sign-on period.
