Employed taxi driver
Different rules apply depending on whether you're self-employed and run a tax business or a taxi dispatch centre, or whether you're employed as a taxi driver.
Check which tax rules apply and what information you must provide in the tax return.
Does this apply to me?
It applies to you if you're a driver for other taxi owners.
It also applies if you're employed as a driver in your own private limited company.
What you need to do
Tax deduction card
Check your tax deduction card, update your expected income with the salary you think you'll earn as a taxi driver. Remember to include salary income from other employers you have during the year.
The taxi owner you drive for will retrieve your tax deduction card online.
Tax return
You must submit the tax return by 30 April at the latest.
Specific information if you
If someone asks you to register as a self-employed person to get a job with them, this is not something others can decide for you. You must want to register as self-employed yourself, and you must also meet the requirements to be a self-employed person.
The Tax Administration has made a wizard to give you a guiding statement on whether or not you're self-employed. Employee or self-employed? - The Tax Administration
Those who drive taxis are required to have passed a taxi driver exam and have a passenger carrying vehicle (PCV) driver’s licence. More about taxi driver CPC at the Norwegian Public Roads Administration and driving licence at the police.
