Tettpå – cooperation against work-related crime

Tettpå helps consumers who are going to build or renovate houses or holiday homes choose law-abiding tradespeople.

Tettpå is a measure from several public agencies, employers and employees, the construction sector and consumer interest groups. The goal is to reduce the demand for illegal labour in the building sector.

Tettpå functions as a communications channel and a guide for consumers who are looking to build or renovate.

About Tettpå

The Tax Administration has agreements with certain municipalities and the Norwegian Mapping Authority regarding the exchange of data from building applications and declarations of ownership.

A service team at the Tax Administration will call consumers who have applied for building permits or bought residential or holiday properties in the relevant municipalities. The service team mobilises, guides and teaches consumers how to make good choices when they hire tradespeople. Consumers will get information about

  • what they should check for when choosing a contractor
  • where and how they can check openly available business data
  • the advantages of using law-abiding labour
  • which rights and obligations they have as construction clients

After the telephone conversation, the consumer will get a guide with more tips about the topic.

Changing customer focus – Anders Øiaas, general manager of Timberbygg:
“Timberbygg has kept statistics of consumer demand since 2014. The statistics show a clear change in what’s most important for the consumers. From a single-minded consumer focus on price in 2014, to a focus on quality, competency and responsibility in today’s market. I’m certain that the building sector’s Uropatrulje and Tettpå are the most important reasons for this positive development.”
“Hello, this is the Tax Administration” – editorial in bygg.no:
“We hope as many people as possible answer when the Tax Administration calls. It could be one of the most important conversations you have.”
